New original song

Here’s a song I wrote for my little sister, Lauren. Check out some of her other songs on the Musicians page.

No not the contest from Seinfeld.

This is a battle of vocalization between Randy Scharff and I for best rendition of “The Scientist” by Coldplay. It’s up to you to decide who is better, or who has the least horrific version.

Randy’s version…

Axman’s version…

Now vote…

Check out this slideshow of my trip to guitar center to buy a new guitar.

Here’s a video lesson of how to play the G Chord. This completes all the lessons for the major chords.

It’s always nice to play a song and then all of a sudden everyone in the room singing the lyrics. “How’s It Going To Be” by Third Eye Blind is one of those songs.

I was able to sit down with an amazing vocalist, Randy Scharff, and record our version.

Here’s the tab I used to learn the song — Ultimate Guitar

If you listen to Towson’s local radio station, WTMD, then you’ve probably heard Tyler Laporte talking you through your day.

He is a graduate of Towson University and has worked hard to get where he is today in the radio industry. I was able to ask Tyler some questions about his musical journey and what it takes to be in the radio business.

Axman: What’s your job title and day-to-day activities at WTMD?

Tyler: I am the Music Director at the station as well as the host of the middays (10a-2p) Monday to Thursday and I host Altered Fridays which airs every Friday from 4pm to 7pm.

I choose and schedule the music we play on the station. I book bands to come in to the studio and play our First Thursday Concerts in the Park which runs from May to October.

I also keep in contact with record labels and independent artists and make sure our relationships stay strong. Every day is fast paced, stressful but lots of fun. I mean I get to wear a T-Shirt and jeans and I listen to music all day every day. You can’t beat that.

311 doesn’t have too many acoustic songs. This is one of my favorites. I cut out the solo part because it’s hard to sing and play it at the same time. Either way I tried to do the song justice.

Here’s my favorite part of the song.

“In times of trouble
Everyone joins a team
No one waves a flag
For all human beings”
